Whispering Meadows

The Whispering Meadows, affectionately known as Park No. 1, stands as a visual delight, capturing the hearts of those who visit. It is a favoured spot for morning walkers and a haven for children. Behind the serene facade of Park No.1 lies a tale of dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to make it beautiful.

In a narrative that unfolded five years ago, Rajesh Malhotra, Ravi Chadda, and Surender Arora, in the absence of a Resident Welfare Association (RWA), took it upon themselves to beautify Park No.1.  Pooling their resources, they initially invested personal funds to purchase an array of plants and flowers, setting the groundwork for a transformative journey. As time unfolded, this park blossomed into one of the most aesthetically pleasing and popular spaces in Suncity, currently managed by an impressive team of 30 dedicated volunteers.

Every morning, like clockwork, the volunteers gather at 11:30 for a brunch that is followed by their shared commitment to enhancing the park’s beauty. Under the picturesque canopy, birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated collectively, fostering a sense of community.

The volunteers have actively funded the procurement of a diverse range of plants and flowers, including roses, lilies, and medicinal plants which have been strategically chosen to ward off mosquitoes. To ensure the park’s meticulous care, the volunteers have gone the extra mile by hiring a dedicated gardener in addition to the one provided by the RWA. Residents have played a  pivotal role in Park No.1’s development, having contributed both funds and decorative elements such as protective evil eyes and a serene Buddha fountain. Festivals are occasions for the volunteers to elevate the park’s charm further. With enthusiasm and creativity, they decorate the space to infuse a festive spirit, making it a more visually appealing and vibrant place for all.

However, the volunteers encounter challenges in maintaining the park’s beauty. Blooming flowers and ripe fruits are often plucked by passers-by. Cycles left carelessly parked inside the park wreak havoc on the well-maintained grass. Despite repeated reminders and warnings, a few individuals continue to disregard the volunteers’ efforts, presenting an ongoing challenge.

Rajesh Malhotra shared their collective aspirations for the park’s future. Their ambitious plans include installing operational fountains and improving lighting for night-time ambience. They are actively seeking electricity access to fulfil this vision, showcasing their commitment to elevating Park No. 1 to new heights.

The transformation of Park No. 1 stands as a testament to the power of teamwork and true community spirit. The ambitious efforts of dedicated volunteers like these are the driving force behind Suncity’s ascent to new heights.
