Traffic Police Promises to Check Overloading of School Students in E Rickshaws

Samvada Impact

Ajit Singh who had written the cover story in Samvada Dec ’23 issue regarding overloading of E Rickshaws and subsequently pursued the case with the police on twitter and a letter to the principal of NS Public school informed us “It’s my pleasure to share with you about the impact of story published in Samvada:

I wrote message on my Tweeter handle account and tagged to all police dignitaries of UP and talked to SHO.

I received phone call from traffic help line that they will depute police personnel to check overloading.

He also wrote to the principle, NS Public School the following letter:

I am writing to you with a hope that you will give a sympathetic consideration to the suggestion received from the resident of Sector 26.

It’s our pleasure to have CBSE pattern School in our Sector.

It’s open secret that our teachers teach academic subjects and for example rules of the road but nobody makes us understand how to implement them in our own interest.

I have personally seen number of E Rickshaws entering our sector, carrying 10 to 11-12 students in one E Rickshaw.

It’s undoubtedly duty of parents to check students travelling in such unsafe conditions.

Scanned video and my brief writeup in Samvada is enclosed for your kind perusal.

You are requested to kindly communicate to the students through class teachers to avoid coming to school in overloaded vehicles which brings accident risk of their lives.

We don’t want students travelling in E Rickshwa be stopped at the entry gate and become late in attending classes or miss their part of lecture.

Kindly cooperate and get the message conveyed to students through their class teachers which would also mean to make them learn to implement rules of road in practical life.

Subsequently, Ajit Singh talked to Mr Sethi, Principal NS Public School and he has agreed to advise students to avoid use of overloaded E Rickshaw for coming to School.
