Wellingtons Success Story of 350 KWP Solar PV plant

Delhi NCR has been facing a pollution problem for many years, and it is our responsibility to solve it.

Wellington Estate took a bold step to solve it. The complex comprising 555 premium residential apartments, built on 6 acres of land nestled in a quiet corner of DLF phase 5 Gurugram, Haryana, put Solar panels on the roof of society. This way, the use of diesel generators during power cuts would be restricted as solar power would be used.

WECA successfully commissioned a 200 kWp rooftop power plant on 10.10 .2017 and has expanded capacity by adding another 150 kWp on 10.2.2019. This project was funded by internal savings and accumulated society reserves without any additional contributions from members or funding from any financial institution.

The total project cost was Rs. 1.80 crore. 90 % of common area electricity is supplied by solar systems. Till now, the Wellington solar plant has generated 1.95 GWh saving electricity amounting to Rs.1.4 crore. The plant has saved 764566 kg of CO2, equivalent to 22820 trees planted. The society, due to its initiatives in the past has been awarded the state energy annual award by the Haryana Government that had  a cash award of Rs50,000/-.The Solar plant which was planted five years back, now the residents are enjoying its fruit.

It was found in a survey by media that following the path of Wellington, Devendra Vihar Society of sector 56 has also installed solar panels and with that power, they run lifts, water pumps, society’s street lights and office lights. Now many societies have also started opting for it, saving our environment and minimising the pollution problem.
