Senior Citizens Forum (SCF) Updates:

Medical Health Camp: To continue to boost the overall health of our Def col residents, Harjit Kaur Bawa and her SCF team announced a Mega Health Check-up Camp, hosted by Max Saket, offering comprehensive health assessments from head to toe.

The communication for the medical camp was communicated through whatsapp groups, emails and personal messages to all the residents of Defence colony by the SCF and RWA – A block. This exclusive event was held on Sun, 7th April 2024, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the SCF forum premises.

The Medical Camp at SCF A Block, Defence Colony, was a remarkable success, drawing a significant turnout from the residents of all ages from all over Defence Colony. A diverse array of medical specialists, including cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons, ophthalmologists, ENT specialists, and sleep medicine experts, alongside various tests such as KFT, BP, blood sugar, and many more, were available to cater to the healthcare needs of our community.

The satisfaction among residents with both the medical professionals and SCF team was immensely gratifying and was acknowledged by everyone. The Chairperson extended her deepest gratitude to the residents for their enthusiastic participation in the camp and for seeking advice from the experts. This event was a collaborative endeavor by SCF team, aimed at providing essential medical assistance and support to our community, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of our residents.

Seniors Birthdays Are Now Awaited by All Members: An invite was sent to all the lucky seniors whose birthday was in March with the headline “March’s Marvelous Moments: Celebrating Our Superstars! This personal message to attend the Birthdays on 27th March was acknowledged by everyone and confirmed their participation as per the schedule.

This special celebration event commenced with joyous melodies of Punjabi folk songs, followed by captivating Hindi tunes performed by our very own talented SCF family members. A heartfelt thank you to one of our generous members who adorned the birthday celebrants with exquisite garlands, alongside treating us to delectable samosas and sweets (despite it not being his own birthday). His kindness truly touched the hearts of all those who attended the party.

The Chairperson greeted with here warm welcome to all and extended greetings to the new members who have recently joined the SCF family. Birthday cards were exchanged, and the cake was ceremoniously cut by the Birthday boyz and gals.

To cap it off, everyone relished in the scrumptious snacks and teamers. Bawa expressed her deepest gratitude to each and every one for their enthusiastic participation and unwavering support. Their presence undeniably made today’s event an outstanding success. These monthly gatherings serve as binding threads that strengthen the fabric of our community – leaving us all yearning for more.

Brahmakumari Foundation Session for the Seniors: To add more happiness, peace and enjoyment in the lives of seniors, the SCF forum organized a special session with the support of Brahmakumari foundation in March. The Chairperson welcomed all the guests and was genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude as it added to the incredible journey of them to reach their personal milestones of 60, 70, 80 and 90!! The unwavering support and active participation from all the seniors have touched the hearts which is a reminder of being one community forever.

This specially crafted session, centered around the theme “Live Happier, Live Longer,” was nothing short of transformative, thanks to the remarkable insights shared by Sister Sapna and Sister Niharika from the Brahmakumari Foundation. Their wisdom illuminated their paths and ignited a flame of *inner peace and joy within everyone.

Sister Sapna’s words resonated deeply, reminding  all that true happiness springs from the depths of our souls, unaffected by external circumstances. Her message served as a guiding beacon, urging to embrace the beauty of life with open hearts and minds. Equally impactful were Sister Niharika’s expertly guided meditations which transported to realms of serenity and tranquility.

It was a privilege to witness over 80 members of our esteemed Forum actively engage in these transformative *practices, fostering a sense of unity and harmony among all. The SCF extended heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated members of the Brahmakumaris for their invaluable support and assistance throughout the session, from the distribution of Prasad to the heartfelt exchange of greeting cards.

The session culminated in a delightful high tea, graciously hosted by the Senior Citizen Forum. As everyone savored the delicious spread of sandwich cutlets, Gulab Jamun, and refreshing tea, the Chairperson expressed immense gratitude for the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that unite all.

The Senior citizen forum is now visited and cherished by more and more residents in the morning and evenings that are seen chatting and chilling for hours. Anyone can join SCF by visiting SCF office to make new friends in the colony. The SCF has planned more interesting events for April ’24 to give more and more chances to the residents of Defence colony to enjoy and spend quality time with each other.
