The weather was chilly and windy. People were rubbing their hands together to keep themselves warm. But that didn’t deter the residents of Mahagun Morpheus from celebrating the Republic Day with full vigour. Children, adults, senior citizens, all gathered in the Central Park. Greetings were exchanged and everyone congratulated each other for this monumental day in Indian’s journey of freedom.
The programme started with parade of guards and salute to the National Flag. Senior citizens were invited to unfurl the National Flag followed by the rendition of National Anthem by everyone present. “Vande Matram” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” “Jai Hind” reverberated in the garden as everyone was full of spirit and josh.
An extempore singing session started with some residents serenading patriotic songs. Raghav Maheshwari, from 910, aged 8 years performed Vande Matram on guitar. Refreshments of samosa, chai and sweet were served by the EC.
