Reopening Of Safal Store In SC1

The saying goes, “You are what you eat”, so I am sure we all are looking for clean, toxin-free, organic produce which does not eat into your pocket as you bite into it.

Therefore, it was with a collective sigh of relief that the Residents of South City 1 welcomed the reopening of the Safal store situated adjacent to Mayom Hospital. The organically grown vegetables are sourced from the Mangolpuri store in Delhi. Since the vegetables are obtained directly from the farmers in Sonipat and Punjab, they are reasonably priced. In fact, the onions are sold at a subsidized rate which does not bring you to tears even as you slice the onions. In addition to vegetables, the store is stocked with a variety of kitchen groceries. Since eggs and bread etc are not items on the Safal store list, they are kept outside as a matter of convenience for the grocery shopper. To augment that, the Safal store also provides for delivery of milk to the houseowners. There are two boys who work from 8am to 8pm every day, to facilitate home delivery.

I was curious as to why the Safal store had closed down in the first place. It turned out that the people who ran the store earlier, had started sourcing the vegetables from the local ‘mandi’ since it proved to be more lucrative. This came to light during an inspection by Inspectors from ‘Mother Dairy’. Parveen and his brother, Manoj, run the store now. Their father Ranbir Singh, an ex-serviceman, is the owner. Apparently, the Inspectors from Delhi come unannounced to check on the SOPs followed at the Safal Store.

I, along with many others, have had a good experience dealing with Parveen and Manoj, both of whom are respectful and polite.
