Pressure from Opposition Forces RWA Gets the Club Lease Deed Renewed on Old Terms

RWA’s Attempt to Grab Complete Control of Club Affairs Foiled

RWA President DD Mishra informed the residents and the members of the Club that he has been able to get the Club’s old lease agreement renewed verbatim. This lays to rest all the apprehensions and tensions that the opposition and members of the Club had with the new lease agreement which was signed on 21 Nov 23.

Four resident executive committee members had resigned from the Club committee and many prominent resident members, including past president Inderjit Sial, raised serious concerns regarding the implementation of the new agreement. One ex- non-resident executive committee member even filed a petition against the agreement with the Registrar of Societies Meerut.

The RWA had signed that agreement seemingly with the sole idea of grabbing complete control of the Club by throwing out the non-resident executive committee members and installing its own committee to run the Club. Some members even termed it a coup! Local circles were abuzz with discussions on the issue and they unanimously termed that agreement ‘unconstitutional’.

Apparently even the RWA executive committee, after deliberating on the issue, must have felt that running the Club under its full control would have presented unconstitutional hurdles.

Now that the old agreement has been renewed all the contretemps have been put to rest and the opposing members will be celebrating a big win. The following is what the President said while presenting the renewed old lease agreement (excerpts):

Friends! I am delighted and happy to announce to you that the license agreement signed on 21st November 23 has been withdrawn and cancelled And the Revised License Agreement has been signed and received extended for thirty years and renewed for 90 years with annual fee of Rs.1.
