Loving Tributes And Message From A close Friend To Dr Talwar’s Daughter

Recently Sangeeta Krishan (R/o B5 Block),  lost her father Dr. Talwar. She was overwhelmed with emotions when she received this emotional letter from her father’s close friend Dr Santosh Tandon. “Dear Sangeeta and Sanjiv. I met Dr Talwar more than five decades back in the corridors of UPSC where we were both appearing for the same post in zoological survey of India. Fortunately we were both selected and joined ZSI in 1965. Since then the friendship started ….and lasted for years till the end. During his stay in Calcutta both the families became very close and use to visit each other frequently. I have seen both of you growing till you both moved out of Kolkata. Talwar Saab was an exceptional, brilliant marine biologist and has travelled along most of the Indian coastline to collect marine fishes. He has written countless research papers on marine biology and finally his monumental work on marine fishes of India is appreciated and commented by all the eminent scientists, beside this he also has written other books and edited many others. Our friendship continued inspite of being away from Kolkata, with weekly or fortnight Telephonic Conversations on various subjects till the end.

It was very courageous of him to bid me final a good bye before his final passing away about 2 months back, and I could not believe this. He was a great husband and a superb father for his children with his limited interests confined to his family, a few close friends and his books. In such a long relationship I always admired his capacity to work and finally to change from marine biology to accounts and tax filings in his son’s firm he could handle all. The vacuum of my remaining life so caused will never be filled. Our deepest condolences to you both and the entire family, may his soul rest in eternal peace.”
