Lohri festival was celebrated at the central lawn of Saket Dham Apartments on January 13, 2023 with great fun and fervour. Lohri is one of the major festivals of north-ern India especially from the region of Punjab which is celebrated during the peak winter season. Saket Dham residents gathered at the scheduled time in good strength at the venue for Lohri celebrations. Despite of the fact that although they remained confined indoors during the day time due to jaw freezing cold but made it a point to participate in the celebrations braving the windy and bone chilling weather in the evening.
Lohri festivities started with Puja ceremony, performed by the Society’s Pandit ji and the sacred fire was lit with the chanting of Mantras. Initially the holy fire was very freak and remained confined to a limited zone only but picked up very fast due to oxygen support by natural wind flows. As soon as the fire reached its peak, the residents started performing parikarmas around the Lohri and offered the mixture of Moongfali, Revri, Chirwa, Phulle (Popcorns) and Tils etc. to the rising flames with prayers as a tradition. The residents greeted each other. Moongfali, Revri and popcorn etc. were distributed to the residents as Prasada. Folk songs of Lohri were played on audio system Assorted Hot Pakoras like Bread, Cheese, Palak, Shimla Mirch, Gobhi etc. along with Gulab Jamun and Masala Tea were served to all the residents during the celebrations. The residents enjoyed the snacks and warmth of the function by being around the bone fire.
