Last week a teenager (name withheld) from Vasant Vihar had gone to Priya market complex to make some purchase. While he was returning home around 6 in the evening with his newly bought shoes, he was accosted by two knife wielding muggers. Fortunately, the boy was alert and was able to fight them off without incurring any significant injuries except some bruises on the knuckles and a sour shoulder. Though there were some people around sadly no one came to the boy’s rescue.
“Thank goodness the boy is safe physically but what about the psychological ramifications of incidents of this kind? More so when such incidents are happening in and around our own colony,” asks one of the residents of the colony.
“We need to have a boundary wall for our colony. The society should Pursue this with the authorities. Every colony in the neighborhood is having a boundary wall around their colony and so should we have. Authorities must be convinced that this has become necessary in prevailing environment. Where there is a will there is a way,” suggests another resident State of security, law and order in and around Vasant Vihar is rapidly deteriorating. This message is all over the city. Immediate measures need to be taken before the situation turns beyond the point of no return.
The residents want the Society and the Association to take this just one point agenda on a war footing.
With the MCD elections around the corner, the police need to upgrade vigilance. Maybe some policemen in plain clothes would help to catch the bad elements. Situation is indeed going totally out of control!
