Let Our Roads Be Safe And Lives Secure

The Road Safety Meeting in February highlighted the challenges and means to achieve the target of bringing down accidents to 50% by 2030. Cyclists, 2 wheelers and pedestrians  comprise 75 % of deaths, out of 2 lakh deaths & 50 lakh injured. Each of us plays a vital role in creating a safer world on roads.

Holistic approach by implementing 5 E simultaneously i.e Engineering of roads, Engineering of  corrections as many accidents are due to poor maintenance of roads.

The three rules are Education, Enforcement & Emergency care. Stress was also laid on awareness of helmet  culture, using telephones, over speeding, zigzag driving and using safety belts. Trauma centers will have specially trained staff and fully equipped with   emergency equipment. There were suggestions  to have Motorcycles with safety airbags and the vehicle should not start unless the rider is wearing a helmet  and every vehicle should have registration number on top also so that Camera can easily record.

Maruti Suzuki is  playing a big role in road safety. They have opened the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research Centres (IDTRS) and provide skilled, responsible & essential first aid trained drivers. For the families of accident victims, who lost bread winner, with the help of Ministry of Social Justice and Welfare, gives 3 to 6 months training in skills as Mechanic, Electrician , Mason etc

At 18.45 hrs Mr Nitin J Gadkari MORT&H  launched School Zone Safety Portal and Capacity Building Program. He gave his valuable guidance to the audience.
