It was a surprise when I met her in the airport lounge. We were travelling to Kochi for a short holiday. As we entered the lounge, we saw her sitting. As soon as she saw me, she smiled.
I also smiled. Then I asked her: “Are you Parveen Sultana?” She smiled and nodded happily. I said that I listen to her programmes, whenever possible. I told her that “Bhavani.. Dayaani” is one of my favourite songs. I also told her that one of my daughters is named Bhavani.
We chatted for some time. Then I asked whether I could have a photograph with her. She happily agreed and came near my seat and also sat on the edge of the sofa and put her hand around my shoulder. As my husband was ready to take the photograph, she stopped for a moment, pulled out her chain, wore it in front and was ready with a big smile. She then asked me why I was walking with difficulty. I told her about my hip surgery.
Her flight was earlier than ours and she was going to Bombay. She asked us where we are going.
As she stood up to go, she gave me a big hug and told me she was very happy to meet me. This one-to-one meeting made me very happy. I told her I am blessed, “Kabhi sochaa bi nahin thaa, aisi mulakaat hogi!!”
