A Green Day Book Launch of Jeevesh Gupta

Jeevesh Gupta who is a young environmentalist and enterpreneur organised an event at India Habitat Centre on May 3rd 2024. TERI and TERI Alumni Association hosted the launch of a much awaited book “A Green Day”, published by Hachette India through the literary agency, The Book Bakers. The event started with a book introduction by one of the co-authors of the book, Prof. Anandajit Goswami followed by the book unveiling and panel discussion which saw luminaries from the field of environment including Renowned Environment Lawyer & Activist Sh. MC Mehta, TERI Director General Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Retired IAS and Ex-Secretary GOI Mr. Rakesh Kacker, IGNCA Member Secretary Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Renowned Writer & Economist Prof. Aseem Shrivastava along with the other co-authorsJeevesh  Gupta and Chittranjan Dubey. The book is a unique anthological volume comprising impassioned essays, noteworthy profiles, and first-person narratives champion grassroots and global environmental movements that have persuaded policymakers and mobilized communities to take note of the worsening state of the natural order. From the Global South to the Global North, change advocates and those experiencing the thick of the climate emergency revisit the tipping points in their activism journey, lay out harsh truths about the extent of damage caused, and offer scalable solutions to combat the mounting crisis. Outlining their rage, despair, fears, and hope for the future, the campaigners underscore that there may be reasons to be optimistic despite the dreary reality we find ourselves in. While calling for collective action, these wide-ranging, inspiring, and urgent stories reflect a diverse landscape of climate activism and are enough evidence that a sea change is possible. Jeevesh Gupta, Chittranjan Dubey, and Anandajit Goswami have put in four years of hardship to come out with this very timely anthology. At a time, when the world is going through a poly-crisis and craving for different forms of democratic order by pushing and mainstreaming the agenda of ecology, culture, climate action, and human existence, survival within the larger political discourses, this book will only strengthen the ongoing struggle of mainstreaming such a voice in all regional, national and global change discourses. The book boasts of detailed essays by noted globally acclaimed environmentalists and social thinkers such as MC Mehta, Jadav Payeng, Roger Hallam, Eric Solheim, Mayank Gandhi, Sachchidanand Joshi, Ash Pachauri and Aseem Srivastava.

Safdarjung community is very proud of this budding writer. All our best wishes and congratulations to Jeevesh for coming up with such a wonderful book on environment.
