The Fifty Lakh Project Will Be Financed by the Rich Club Treasury
Buoyed by the success of the newly-built beautiful entrance of the Club, it seems that the Club and RWA executive committees decided to give the 15A entrance also a swanky look along with a new gate automation system. This will mean that we are in for not only better aesthetics but also technologically advanced systems which will give the staff manning the gates better working conditions and we the residents and other commuters smoother movement in and out of the Sector.
Residents have been taken aback at this sudden decision of the RWA and the Club to spend 50 Lakhs. Hope this budget stays within 50 lakhs because if past experience is anything to go by, it may surpass budgeted figures by the time the project is complete.
Some residents have raised objections to RWA and the Club executive committees taking up this high spend project without getting clearance from the General Body. However, it seems that it has become the norm that elected bodies give two hoots for the general body. Committees in the past and the one now in the hot seat once elected feel it’s their right to take decisions without going to the general body.
The following are the views of our past senior executive committee member Rajesh Malik:
1. I attended the AGM held on 28.4.24 and to the best of my knowledge, the issue of the Gate Project was neither on the agenda nor discussed, leave aside ‘the Approval’ by the AGM? The draft minutes of The AGM’s held on 28.4.24 and circulated on 5.7.24 also do not reflect or find a mention about the approval either in adoption of the Secretary’s or the Treasurer’s Reports!
2. Not doubting the good intentions of our RWA/Club, Wish copies of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of such an important and significant issue of our daily life – 24 hour commuting in and out of the sector’s gates, costing 50 lacs, were circulated in advance for a meaningful and fruitful discussion and of course, an approval! No one is against any worthy, useful and justified development in the sector but transparency and accountability have to be sustained always. Will request the RWA to circulate the DPR copies amongst the residents at its earliest.
3. ‘ Is the new exercise really going to help in improving the functionality of the existing system in terms of new technology thus ensuring better traffic control, security and cutting down ever increasing running or maintenance costs? These are the most anticipated questions the resident may rightly speculate.
