Janmashtami is a joyous festival and, as tradition, rain God is sure to bless with pleasant shower. This year too it rained that day, 26 August, which set the mood of festivity in the evening. Many families had kept fast and decorated jhankis in their home mandirs. Puja was done at midnight, when Krishna was born.
In Grand Omaxe, GOAAO Cultural committee organized community celebration. The focus of the event this time was ‘to celebrate the innocence and holiness of Lord Shri Krishna’ as they said in the invitation to the residents on auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
As requested earlier by the organisers to the residents to have their kids dressed traditionally, many society children and residents were dressed in the form of Bal Krishna, Bal Radhika, Gwals and Gopies. The celebration was also to cherish and celebrate Krishna’s innocent acts as a child.
The programme was to be between 4:30 pm to 08:00 pm, but the festive mood continued later too since it was a good opportunity for the families to interact and catch up. The children had made their own groups and played.
This day was also the time for prize distribution of the various competitions held on 15 August.
