Next ‘Daryaganj’ on Sunday, 29 Sept

Each edition of Daryaganj introduces us to new book lovers, springs us a few surprises in the Open Mic, and displays a fresh variety of books for visitors. In the August edition we got some excellent coffee table books, a collection of books on finance, audit, and general management, a few rare books, and a whole lot of novels and story books in Hindi.

Noteworthy contributors: Apart from book lovers who came in with handful of books to giveaway, we received sizable collections of books from the following residents — Vice Admiral Pradeep Kaushive (Maestro), SS Mediratta (Silver Estate), Sangeeta Tingal (Mahagun Manor) and Leena Bhavnani (Overseas).

Lend and borrow books: We encourage booklovers to bring books they wish to loan to other booklovers who can return them in the next edition. Let us build bonds of book friendship.
Regional books: The next Daryaganj will also see display of books in Indian regional languages. A book lover has promised to bring books in Marathi. We welcome books in other languages too.

250 books were donated to Noida Public Library after exchange and takeaways in this August edition of Daryaganj.

Please contribute books that are in decent condition. Rare books are an exception. Also, if there is a sizable number of books you are bringing, please get them in cartons.

Open Mic: We had both adults and children who recited poems and stories. Here are some of the participants — Krishna Bisht (Rail Nagar), Nimisha Sharma, Gaurvi Agarwal and Livya Agarwal (all from Amrapali Eden Park), Anvi and Aarohi Choudhary (Palm Grove), Prisha Joshi (Antriksh Greens), Alia Khurana ((Shubhkamna) and Khushvika Wadhwa (Sec 31). There were a few more adults whose names we could not record. Thank you all for participating.

Our Open Mic is concerned with the appreciation of literature and aspires mainly to encourage literary renditions drawn from your favourite authors or your own creation.

Recitation is an admired skill which needs to be constantly polished. Do rehearse your recitation so that it leaves a good impression on the audience. You may read out your favourite passage or poem, rather than reciting it from memory. Remember there is a time limit, two minutes, at the most three. Those who wish to participate may start preparing from now.

Daryaganj Team: The August edition of Daryaganj was conducted by Kapil Pandey, Anuja Agarwal and Gurvinder Singh.

Note: On the last Sunday of the month, after hosting Daryaganj in the forenoon, we organize Storytelling Sessions in the evening conducted by Kahaani Square.
