Loose Electricity Wires: A Deadly Threat Ignored

As the monsoon season sets in, a deadly menace looms over our colony roads and parks—loose electricity wires hanging precariously from poles. These exposed live wires, left unchecked by the authorities, pose a serious threat to human life. Every step taken on our roads or pedestrian pathways is fraught with the fear of electrocution, making even the simple act of walking a potential hazard.

The situation is particularly alarming in our colony parks, where high mast light poles and other electrical installations have exposed electric boxes with live wires dangling dangerously. Imagine the horror of a child innocently playing in the park, only to accidentally touch one of these poles. The result could be a tragic loss of life, an unimaginable grief for the family, and a blot on our collective conscience.

The question that arises is who will take responsibility for such a disaster? The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and BSES have consistently failed to address these issues in a timely manner. Their neglect is evident as these critical repairs are often left undone until the rains have already begun, leaving citizens vulnerable.

The onus is on these agencies to act swiftly and ensure that all electrical repairs and maintenance are completed well before the monsoon season. The safety of our citizens should not be compromised. It’s high time that these bodies are held accountable for the maintenance of our infrastructure. The lives of our children, our neighbors, and ourselves are at stake, and we must demand immediate action before another tragedy strikes.
