As the temperatures of Delhi crossed even 52 degree this summer, the most active group of Def col youth brigade led by Ajay Kumar and Vijay Pandey planned for a series of “Grandchabeel“ and Bhandara” to serve chilled rose milk water and food to thousands of poor and needy people in and around Defcol.
The plan was shared in various Def col groups to involve more and more residents to come forward and support this noble cause. The response was quick and quite huge as in no times residents started supporting with items (Milk, Sugar, Roohafza) and money to serve thousands of people around Defence colony. Rajinder Malik offered to sponsor the tent, tables, water tubs, chairs etc. as special gesture for the Grand Chabeel. The venue was A block near JCO club and Mother dairy which was cleaned by the MCD staff with the instructions of our councilor and MLA Madan Lal. The distribution of chilled water distribution started in the morning of 2nd June from 10 am (the crowd assembling beforethe scheduled time of 11 am). The volunteers of the group included Seema Kandhari, Mandeep Singh, Sanjay Pandey, Sanjay Kumar, Virat Pandey, Sumeet Chugh, Bharat Bhushan, Sushil Bagga, Aarti Chaudhary, Chanda Arora, Sunil Batra, Rajesh Kapoor, Rohit Chaudhary, and many more. The long queues of guards, maids, vendors, and others were seen throughout the day.
As a special courtesy, a free eye checkup camp was also organized with the support of Sanjay Kumar by Centre for Sight for the visitors who appreciated these efforts. More than 200 people used this camp for eye checkup and free consultation.
It was nice to observe all the people having chilled milk water and also filled up their bigbottles for the family. We take this opportunity to thank all the residents who supported thisnoble cause for thousands of people.
Hot subzi-puri and Halwa were distributed to more than 2500 people near Acharya Sushil Jain Muni ashram. Our group is planning to organize the distribution of sweet water and food for in the coming weeks. God bless all who are always available to help others at all times!!
