All the holy scriptures emph-asise the same sentiment, albeit the language and semantics may be different. Three things will last forever – Faith, Hope and Love.
Guided by this ancient wisdom, the Wishtown Sanskriti Samiti (WTSS) endeavours to foster an atmosphere of love through conduct of events pertaining to different faiths.
As the holy month of Ramadan progressed through April and May, WTSS invited its Muslim brethren and sisters to join at Iftar, the breaking of fast, on Saturday, 6 May, a day after Jumaat ul Vida, the last Friday of Ramadan.
Arrangements were made at Club3 for Iftar, with the hall being spruced up. Delicacies were arranged just as attendees started arriving in numbers, before sunset. At the appointed time, Iftar commenced, followed by Maghrib namaz, the evening prayers led by the Imam from the local mosque.
With the formal part over, interaction commenced with the gathering moved out into the lawns where table seating arrangements had been made. There was an atmosphere of bonhomie amongst the residents, with Dr Dinesh Bharadwaj, WTSS President, playing the host, supported by the executive committee members.
Several volunteers from the community pitched in to ensure the attendees were looked after. A lavish spread comprising delectable dishes was laid out for dinner. As residents bonded over dinner, one could feel the unmistakable connect that had developed amongst them over time.
When the evening concluded, the crowd dispersed reluctantly having renewed bonds with old friends and established a connect with new ones. There was a promise of meeting more often at occasions to celebrate the joys of community living.
One could say without doubt – it was a season of Faith, Feast and Friendship!
