Passion For Compassion – The Woman With A Heart

Meet Madhu Bhagat (9214), whose life motto is to stay positive and smile through situations.

Born in Delhi, Madhu has lived in places like Delhi, Mumbai, and the UK. Her global family, with six siblings worldwide, has influenced her perspective on life.

As a Rotarian for three decades, Madhu was a pioneering member of the Rotary Club of Delhi, Safdarjung and the world’s first all-women Rotary club, Rotary International.

Madhu credits her father for instilling in her a sense of compassion, which led her to start her NGO, Passion for Compassion, in 2017, which has been a source of hope for numerous people and animals.

Madhu’s acts of kindness are extensive. She helps provide food to those in need, supports cancer patients, and has received awards for her humanitarian work. During the pandemic, she launched projects like the Roti Bank to feed labourers in Noida, with support from donors.

Madhu focuses on empowering women by teaching sewing machine courses and supports underprivileged children with school supplies. Her community kitchen feeds 200 school kids daily, highlighting her dedication to fighting hunger.

Married to an Indian Air Force officer, Madhu has three children and enjoys a bond with her grandchildren. Her passions include reading, writing, and appreciating cinema, with films like Dr. Zhivago, Mughal-e-Azam and Devdas having a special place in her heart.

Madhu is also a poet and recently published a book titled Scent of Crushed Petals, exploring relationships and aging.

Madhu’s story showcases how being kind can change lives. Her message touches the hearts of both Hamletians and society at large, encouraging everyone to reach out and support those who are struggling, regardless of their background.

Madhu’s simple yet powerful message is this: Be courageous, be compassionate, and lend a hand to those who need it the most.
