Public Money Goes to Drain!

“On the occasion of Noida Divas, on 17 April, Noida Authority (NA) has given a green gift to the commuters/residents of Noida. The e-cycle scheme has been launched by the NA to give last mile affordable connectivity.” Samvada published this news on the cover, in May 2023, under the heading – E-Cycle Scheme to Reduce Carbon Emission.

After getting the facts from the concern Noida department, we were happy to share with the readers:

“One such station is in Sector-93, at the crossing near to Silvercity, where people can use the e-cycle service after downloading the app and completing one-time KYC. Of course, one has to charge the wallet with some amount to start a healthy ride.

“There are 62 docking stations equipped with 10 ready to use cycle through app-based system. The cycle taken from any docking station can be deposited at any station and money will be deducted through prepaid wallet on hourly basis. The rates for first 30 minutes are Rs 15 and security deposit is Rs 299. The cycle can be unlocked and locked only through App.

“The app named TURBAN MOBILITY can be downloaded by scanning the QR code at any Docking station or e-cycle webpage. Although, the App is presently available on Android phones and soon it shall also be available for iPhone users. Also, all the cycles at all docking station are yet to be fitted with app-based locking/unlocking devices.”

The residents were happy to get this information and looked forward enthusiastically to the e-cycle facility, for convenience of moving within the sector.

Latest on this… the locked e-cycle stand with few dusty cycles are caged in the iron rusty iron grilled, all sealed and left abandoned. The sight agitates the residents, when they pass by. The chaiwala in the khokha behind the cycle stand laughed off with a smirk, when we asked him about this place. “Shuru se eise rakhke hain yeh cycle,” he told us.

“Sheer wastage of ‘our’ money and resources! Like many projects that are announced, but never see its successful implementation, this too stands right in front of us as a eyesore,” were the words of an anguished resident that echoes the reaction of all.
