South City is facing a worrying increase in petty criminal activities, leaving residents and authorities deeply concerned. A recent spate of thefts has shaken the area’s safety record. As the colony grapples with this unsettling wave of theft, residents are calling for immediate action from the local police.
Recent thefts have been related to public property. The first such incident was the theft of fencing of the Q block on 12 March. The modus operandi is that for a few days, the streetlights are tampered with and the fence is unbolted. After that, one night the fence is taken away. There was another such incident on 2nd April.
Vigilant residents of Q block were able to thwart another attempt to steal fences on 21st April. The miscreants could not be caught on the spot, but they had to leave behind their Scooters. Using the scooter, the police have been able to identify and catch the persons involved in this incident.
There have also been many incidents of theft of equipment installed in parks like water pump motors, swings and valves from taps.
As investigations continue, residents remain on edge. The recent surge in such petty crimes has shattered the perception of our colony as a safe colony. It serves as a reminder that no community is immune to criminal activity and that constant vigilance is crucial.
We now await the day when our colony can regain its reputation as a secure and harmonious place to live.
