The cultural committee wing, led by chairperson Sunita Goel, of S Block welfare Society, has taken a new initiative to start a seniors meet every month for 65+ young at heart residents.
The ladies held the first meet in the office of SBWS, located in our park on 10 Feb ‘23, from 11.30 am onwards.
Though it was quite cold, 32 seniors along with CC & MC members of SBWS attended the meeting.
The theme this time was a quiz competition & antakshiri & rendition of gazals etc.
After the initial introductions, as it was the first meeting, program was started with a quiz session, conducted by President SBWS, MK Gupta, who has participated in quiz competitions himself & won many prizes.
Ten questions were asked relating to S Block’s history & GK.
A few samples;
- When was GK 1 created & when were the plots sold by DLF?2.
- What was the initial rate of plots & how payment was taken?
- What is the name of the village/tehsil mentioned in the registry of plots
- When did the 1st discotheque opened in G K I market & what was its name? & so on
Attractive Parker ball point pens were presented as gifts to all the winners.
Our SHO Inspector Ajit Kumar, who was the chief guest, delivered a talk on cybercrimes & informed participants that he is always available to help our senior residents of GK & shared his number.
An antakshri round followed. The winners were given token attractive prizes.
Brunch comprising of Samosas, Khasta Kachori, Hot Jalebis & Dhokla along with hot tea was served to all.
All seniors presented complimented the team of Ms. Goel for conducting such an involved & entertaining program.
The special senior citizen was Mr Garg a resident of S 452, who shall be completing 100 years in July this year. All those present touched his feet & sought his blessings.
