Zero Waste Goal As A Community

With growing awareness about environmental conservation and the need to make environmentally conscious decisions, Suncity as a community has been consistently striving towards the goal of zero waste. What a community does with its waste is a key indicator of how much the community has evolved. Judicious disposal of waste keeping the key elements of segregation and circularity has been a milestone achieved by the community with consistent efforts of SRWA along with Saahas (NGO).

As a community we have achieved 95% of segregation of waste under a simple yet powerful drive of Alag Karo Project, initiated by Saahas and one of the funders from the German Ministry.

Inspired by nature’s way of utilizing every bit of natural resources in a circular manner, circularity emphasizes on reusing, recycling and repurposing of waste material to reduce the adverse impact on the environment. Following the concept of circularity, wet waste from our community is converted into biogas and all the dry waste is sent to the authorised vendor of MCG for further processing.

There were training and awareness drives organized for volunteers, housekeepers and maids to educate them about proper disposal of waste and the importance of reducing plastic waste.

We can take pride as a community in the initiatives taken towards the goal of zero waste and contribute to the cause by being more mindful when disposing of our waste.
