One of the senior residents of Panchsheel Enclave. A very down to earth man, well-wisher of all, a positive thinker, simple, humble helpful and a visionary of Panchsheel Enclave.
DK Agarwal is a resident of D-123 Panchsheel Enclave for past over 4 decades. He is 88yrs old now. He feels very honoured to be a part of this prestigious colony and has some very fond memories to share with us. He came to this colony from GK in year 1980 on 1 Jan. He says, “My good friend and a CA by profession Mr Wahal who was living in C block insisted that I buy property in this colony.
I worked as a technical adviser in Indian Investment center under ministry of finance and got transferred to London for 3yrs on deputation. I later worked in India as industrial adviser in Ministry of Industry and got retired and ever since then I lived here in this colony.
I recall that there were not many houses in D –block then neither on my right or left side of the house. There were many vacant plots then in Panchsheel Enclave. I was a member of “The Gymkhana club then and often went there to spend time during those days The Holiday club was not yet constructed then. We few friends like Mr Abhichandani, Sushil Kumar Arora and Mr Wahal used to sit on the club land and enjoy healthy conversations over a cup of tea.
I being a social worker joined PERA at that time Major General Ram Singh was the president and I was a part of the executive committee of PERA and given the charge of security. We then had 1O security guards. I worked very diligently and always checked the security guards whether they were performing their duty dedicatedly. I always took their attendance in the morning and at night and made sure that they were always carrying their whistle and stick etc while on duty. I have some sweet memories working with Maj Gen Ram Singhji, Justice Wad, RS Gupta and many others.
I was a part of Holiday club executive committee and subsequently was elected as a chairman on 30August 2009 and continued till 18 Sep 2011. During that period then its byelaws were revised. The computerization of accounts and other activities were initiated.
I feel extremely happy to live in this colony and can’t thank enough to my friend Late Mr Wahal who encouraged me to move from GK to Panchsheel Enclave. People love to live in this colony as it is one of the most prestigious South Delhi colonies. They want to buy residential properties, flats/ floors here. All the blocks are surrounded by beautiful parks and then we have nice walking tracks in the adjacent forest area. I attend regular yoga classes held in the morning at the club. I feel Proud that The Ram mandir in the colony celebrates all festivals with great zest and zeal. However most women participate in the mandir activities and very few men attend the mandir functions. More men should come forward to attend these functions.
When I asked him what improvement does he feel should be done in the colony to make it even more better he promptly replied “ The market needs to be uplifted “We need to make it more cleaner and should be beautified”. As far as security of the colony is concerned it has improved however needs further improvement and vigilance as that is the need of the hour.
I asked him if he has a message for our younger generation. He replied, “I want to tell the youngsters of the colony that they are dynamic people. They are the future and hope of tomorrow. They need not waste their energies being in the limelight rather be more focused and work diligently for the welfare of the colony. In the end I would say that I feel honoured to receive lot of respect and affection from the residents of this colony and give my blessings to all to live harmoniously and happily in this colony. Thank you!”
I had a nice chat with the most disciplined and a fitness/ health freak. DK Aggarwal over a cup of tea and was astonished to look at his positivity towards life. Hope we all get that spirit and live life king-size. He is an inspiration to all and extremely agile and active at his age.
