A small couplet for New Year’s Eve –
साल की आख़री रंगीन रात, आएगी नयी सुबह, कल नयी नई।
नयी उमंगें भरी, नये जोश के साथ, लाएगी ख्वाहिशें नयी नई।
सब की हर ख्वाहिश हो पूरी, यही है ज्ञान कवि की मनोकामना।
एक नया साल, नई मदमस्त चाल, चैन की फुरसत, नयी नई।
It was a chilly bright night, ushering into a new dawn. This year, AOA had decided not to organise the New Year’s Eve function, in our beautiful condominium, presumably because of logistics. Courtesy our Satish Rewari (14272), we 15 dashing couples of Youngistaan Adda decided to shake our leg, bidding a fabulous 2023 goodbye and welcoming the promising New Year 2024.
The pool-side party was organised on the terrace of Penthouse2 of Tower14. As the clock turned to 20 hours (8 PM), one after the other dashing couples started arriving – Gentlemen in western formal attire and gorgeous Ladies in their stunning black outfits – to rock the party.
With drinks of choices in our hands, we all cheered for the well-being of each one of us and of the society at large. We (average age of 70+) danced around the Young Indian couple, visiting from China, Sonia and Sanjeev (Nephew of शर्मा-बंधु, राम-लखन की जोड़ी).
Hot simmering snacks, straight from live tandoor, were served and relished by one and all.
Col. Girish (7231), master of ceremonies, with the able support of Anand Sabharwal (10141), curated/ crafted an entertainment programme which created an atmosphere full of enthusiasm and josh. In a couple of hours, everyone was in high spirits literally and figuratively.
All the games, be it moving up the coconut by couples, or tying the turban by ladies, or identifying the personality, by judging the song, kept everyone engrossed; quickly the year passed by. The clock rang loud at 00.00 hrs of 01.01.2024.
Triple cake, celebrating birthdays of Devender Kapoor (31.12), Narender Chug (01.01) and welcoming the year 2024 was cut, followed by serving of sumptuous food, in the wee hours of 1st January. Quality time well spent together!
