Young Women’s Associations Scholarship Award 2023-24

I am sure all of us are aware that Young Women’s Association is working almost on the same lines as Young Men’s Association except that Womens Association facilitate life for its lady members while men’s association works for male members. In South Delhi we have two wings of this association, one working in Safdarjung Development Area and the second is in Saket.

Their objective is to make the hostel facilities available at an affordable price to those candidates who are coming from lower income groups. However the requirement of the high income group is also not ignored. All strive hard to keep a balance between these two groups.

There is a new hostel committee every year. It comprises of the chairperson and its members. The General Secretary and President are invited for every committee meeting. This scholarship award comes under the social welfare schemes every year. A meeting of the scholarship sub committee is held to select the deserving candidates. This year the meeting was held on 30th April 2024 at Adya Jha hostel, L3 Safdarjung Development Area, New Delhi. Mrs Niharika Rai, IAS, Chairperson came to grace the function and to disburse scholarship cheques to the girls.

All the members of the General Council were requested to attend the scholarship disbursement function. It was heartening to know that 89 students got scholarships this year from the Young Women’s Association shared by Niharika Rai IAS and Secretary Madhubala. Out of 89 students 82 received a scholarship worth 7200 each as undergraduate and 7 of them received scholarship worth 9000 each as post graduate students.

This is an appreciable effort to assist underprivileged students in pursuit of academic education. As per YWA’s opinion this scholarship scheme will inspire the young girls to take part in civic responsibilities that promote social justice and welfare in society and give them the tools they need to realize their goals. The society was very confident of their capabilities and anticipated success in their future ventures.

It was a well organized function and the General Secretary along with committee members proved a good hostess. The chairperson Niharika ji lived up to her position with humility and graciousness. Even while disbursing the cheques, she kept on encouraging the girls so that they meet their goals in conceivable time. I was invited in the capacity of a founder member by the Secretary Ms Madhubala. Niharika ji gave me the honor of handling the cheques along with her. This speaks a lot about her.

Three cheers  for YWA  for taking an initiative for a very appreciable cause and for the Chairperson’s graciousness to acknowledge by her presence and participation.
