A heartfelt tribute to the dear departed
Colonel Kashyap was a charming personality, who did not have the word “NO” in his dictionary. I always met him on GreenPark Roads carrying files in his hands, destination being MCD. At
times I tried discussing my problems with him. His reaction was always positive with words “You take action we are with you ” No wonder there was such a gathering and people were vying with each other to pay tribute to their leader. I personally met Mrs Kashyap and there I met their daughter in law Sakshi who compiled data for me passionately. I am reproducing Sakshi’s tribute to her dear father in law. Sakshi, we look forward to having you as an active member of RWA.
Unless we invest our selves in service to others there is little purpose to our own life – life motto encapsulated in a single line. Lt. Col. Ashok Kashyap (Retd.) born Oct’ 1945 came to Green Park with his father Shyam Lal (Principal, Butler School) in 1960 and became a permanent resident. His residency of 60 years here is evidence of fundamentally aboriginal association with Green Park Colony.
He was an embodiment of a charming personality rooted with values of loyalty, humility, compassion, honesty, kindness, integrity, selflessness and many more traits. He was indeed very popular, appreciated and liked by many people because of this. A magnetic personality who would carve a niche in even a mere acquaintance’s mind. He was epitome of serenity and simplicity. Having held elite appointments while in service, participated in the 1971 War and brought laurels to his Regiment and of course the Country. Post retirement rendered invaluable service to the community in general and residents of Green Park in particular. Spearheaded RWA as its Vice President and subsequently as President. Also kept close contact with veterans from the Armed Forces.
As resident and President RWA Green Park his is prime focus had always been upliftment and development of this colony for the welfare of the residents, especially children and senior citizens. His dedication and loyal commitment to colony and association work was and is both unquestionable and commendable. He was actively involved in both smooth functioning of the association and addressing issues of the colony with most honest and unbiased decisions. He always voiced his opinion with no fear. His basic nature to help people irrespective of their age, background or status made him the most admired person.
Green Park was his favorite residence and he concluded his celebrated journey here on Feb 4th 2023. He will always be remembered and missed by us all as a personification of selfless service and honesty. (Two of the strongest values besides bouquet of qualities he advocated and exemplified in his lifespan.
