This was the 10th International Yoga Day, on 21 June, and the message of Yoga’s universality as a practice to align body and mind with spiritual peace of mind has been widely accepted. The Jain Chaityalaya, at A-103 Sector 93B, celebrated the International Yoga Day with its full spirit and discipline.
The founder of Chaityalaya, Sunil Jain, informed his community of the event beforehand. The event was held between 6am and 7am, on 21 June. The participants were asked to bring their own mats and be prepared to share their experience of the benefits of Yoga. Among the participants there were children as well as elders, and the youngsters too. There was talk on the benefit of Yoga and the discipline of life that comes with it. The attendees benefitted with the talk and were made to do guided aasans, pranayam and meditation.
On this occasion, Sunil Jain talked on the advantages of doing Yoga – how one can lead a healthy life and can take control of their ailments by doing it regularly. Yoga is beneficial for students since it increases their concentration level; it removes negativity of mind and the mental stress. With regular aasans and breathing exercises one can lower blood sugar levels and even control hypertension. It’s beneficial for asthma patients. Regular routine activates and strengthens muscles, which helps to reduce fat.
He urged the participants to take out some time from their routine daily and form a good habit of doing Yoga regularly. Also, to set an example for others to follow. Those who want to come later and learn Yoga are most welcome to come here. They can later start doing it regularly at their homes, once it is learnt properly. Mr Jain stressed that its benefit can only be felt when practiced, which is essential for all.
