WSOS- Save Our Souls- Wild Life’s Cry In Urban Areas!

A beautiful concept, isn’t it? That’s what are the values of Nirvana living. Coexistence!

It was the T20 World cup Final match on June 29th. A family in Espace was watching the match on TV in their study room on the second floor. Last five overs and the nail-biting excitement and tension were together, exactly then the domestic help of the family saw something wriggling under one of the racks. It was 11.30 in the night. The family found out that the wriggling life was a small snake. Wildlife Rescue team of WSOS was called and within some time the snake was caught live and taken by the team to rescue it in its natural habitat. They identified the baby snake as non-poisonous, lizard eating baby snake. Since it was a baby, the team again visited the house on the following morning and searched if there were more babies or the mother. Thankfully, none were found.

WSOS is taking care of wildlife in a manner which reduces human animal conflict. They catch snakes, monkeys, monitor lizards etc and release them as per law in the wild. Any injured peacock/ peahen, small bird is taken to their wildlife centre or charitable bird hospital for treatment and released back in Nirvana.

They also help in vaccinations and sterilisation of street dogs in Nirvana and also respectful burial of dead animals.

The WSOS animal centre is located within Nirvana and a caretaker is employed here to give food and water to street animals at designated spots in Nirvana Country. The street animals are given two meals daily. The morning food is prepared and distributed by volunteers and the evening food is prepared by another person at his place and delivered at the centre for distribution in all blocks.

Funding for food and distribution is done by volunteers. You will often notice the ‘Wild life’ van taking rounds of Nirvana looking for wildlife that needs help.
