It takes certain grace, strength, intelligence and fearlessness to be a woman of substance. March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day but celebrations started from the first week itself. Tejaswini – the dance drama which was part of the Women’s Day celebration organized by a renowned Club, had participants mostly from Sector 30 but they also came from other Sectors and from Delhi and Gurugram as well.
On March 2, 2024, the highly regarded ladies’ club organized a Women’s Day celebration at the Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6, Noida. The event was a resounding success, beginning with the District President of the Club, Dr. Brij Gupta, honouring five underprivileged women. These women had faced significant struggles and were deprived of basic necessities, care, and a place in society. However, the Club provided them with support, assistance, and awareness to help them stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their male counterparts.
The highlight of the day was a cultural program, a dance drama entitled “Tejaswini,” which focused on women’s empowerment. It was aimed at educating women about their rights and encouraging them to make their own decisions for personal and social development. Achla Dani conceived the program, and Abha Atray, a resident of Ram Vihar, Sector 30, Noida, wrote and directed it. Music recording and editing was done by Varsha Garg.
The dance drama consisted of two parts. In the first part, women portrayed the roles of Indian historical figures such as Hadi Rani, Rani Durgavati, Ahilya Bai Holkar, and Rani Laxmi Bai. These women were known for their sacrifices, which ensured the safety of their domain and kept the honour of their families. In the second part, the transformation of Indian women was depicted through dance and drama.
The show was spectacular, and it was a treat for music and dance enthusiasts in Noida. Thirty women joined together to present “Tejaswini,” and they put their heart and soul into the success of the show, enthralled the audience with their unique performance.
Mrs. Atray is a renowned cultural figure with vast experience in the field, and she has risen to fame with several plays of this kind. Her achievement was a real feather in her cap, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Her hard work, dedication, and talent guarantee her success in every step of her way.
Congratulations to the organizers and the participants! We look forward to more dance dramas shortly, and we hope to witness more of such inspiring shows.
