Besides the festivities, the month of October saw women shine and carve a name for themselves in DLF 2. From a young teenager Saina Sareen, founder of Project Kamakhya, runner up for her project at Global Sustainability awards 2023. A professional make up artist Isha Khanna who runs her own studio and is a master of her art to an entrepreneur and Seema Bahl who is well known for her culinary skills brought laurels for self and the colony.
Below is the description of Saina’s project in her words.
I, Saina Sarin, founder of Project Kamakhya, aim to advocate and spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and sustainable menstruation for underprivileged adolescent girls and women. I have conducted awareness sessions, sustainable pad distribution drives, activities and webinars which are highly beneficial and informative for the girls and women. This project is linked up with several SDGs. Till date we’ve impacted over 800+ women and girls, distributed the same amount of pads, conducted 6 awareness sessions and collaborated with important organizations like Juvenile Justin board of India and Honda CSR wing.
Recently, with immense pleasure and gratitude, Project Kamakhya won the Global sustainability award for SDG 5 (gender equality) as a runner up. The prestigious annual awards by the Arc foundation, were organised in the India International Centre, New Delhi. Project Kamakhya was awarded by the Hon’ble minister of consumer affairs, food and public distribution and environmental protection, Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
Project Kamakhya has also been selected to be presented at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, for the Activate Summit 2023.It will be a part of the Indian youth contingent which will pitch to famous and big entrepreneurs from across the world.
Isha Khanna, won two awards at Wedding Sutra for Best Bridal sangeet and for Reception make up. The husband wife team are unstoppable and are one of the best in their field.
Seema Bahl, participates in contests and melas with her famous Paan Rabri, ambee chutney and golguppas. This year at Anand Mela in Shiv Mandir, Chitranjan Park, New Delhi her Paan Rabri won under the sweets category for the third year in a row.
