Every Noidaite knows what winters of North India means, and as the mercury dipped to 7 degrees near Christmas, my thoughts went out for The Crescent security guards on gate who relentlessly work in this chilly weather to protect our society from unauthorized entries and other prospective harm.
Crescent has a team of 9 guards working in roster shifts – Karan Thapa, Vivek Dubey, Madan, Jayram, Aram Prakash, Sohanlal Gupta, Vijay Bahadur, Ved Prakash and Rameshwar – who are working day in and day out for the security and welfare of residents. Life of a security guard is not easy. Apart from working long hours (12 hours duty) and at odd hours to cover the entire 24 hours day, they are also working in the open, without many facilities and in extreme of climates. Making rounds of the society at night in this chilly weather, the time when miscreants can implement devious plans, the presence of these guards is reassuring that we and our assets are under protection.
Unlike police, they are doing preventive job: scrutinizing any possible thefts, offenses, reporting suspicious behaviors and happenings, responding to alarms and reacting in timely manner. At times, they are at receiving end from residents who mistreat them, forgetting that they are only doing their duty and implementing rules handed over by society management.
As we celebrated Christmas and New Year with outdoor vacations, barbeque parties, special lunches and dinners, or with plain relaxed family times cosying at our homes, they were at vigil, monitoring the surveillance cameras, authorising and noting entries of people and vehicles, calling at extensions announcing visits of guests and vendors, assisting residents in need, informing if car headlight or windows were left open, ensuring proper vehicle parking and safety of resident’s and guest’s cars parked outside, securing all entries and exits, patrolling society, inspecting building and equipments and ensuring all society rules are properly followed like covid guidelines, entry of maids with police verification, checking I-cards when required and other rules and regulations made from time to time.
So while we enjoy the winter chills, we must remember and be thankful for the contribution of these sentries who are safeguarding, protecting and helping us and to make our life so much easier!!
