For seniors, like my husband and I, tending to plants provides a sense of purpose, especially during the winter months. What better way to brighten up a home than with the cheerful, colourful petunias in our small sunny balcony?
Petunias come in an array of colours, from reds to soft pinks, which last for four to five months. They thrive in the sun; at least six hours of sunlight as it is crucial for abundant flowering. They benefit from fertilisation. We provide the flowers a mix of potassium-based fertiliser, DAP and Epsom salt in water twice a week.
Tending to petunias offers exercise, be it while watering or pruning or removing spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming. In winters, our balcony petunia garden becomes a source of joy, a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us.
We are sharing our joy with you, to cultivate a bit of springtime cheer in our home; let the colours of petunias brighten your day.
