The residents of Windsor Court came together for a clothes collection drive organized in collaboration with Saahas Zero Waste, Slim Homes, and Garbage Free India. With their motto of ‘Transforming Threads into Treasure’, Sahaas Zero Waste is working towards reclaiming textile waste as a valuable resource for the future and redefining textile sustainability. They accept all forms of textile, provided they are clean.
Windsor residents decluttered their wardrobes and homes with great enthusiasm for this initiative. Clothes and home textiles were divided into two categories – ‘Clean Textiles’ which are wearable and repairable; and ‘Reject Textiles’ which are heavily used, stained, or torn. These will now be recycled, upcycled, or repurposed, depending upon the best use for each article. Windsor residents believe wholeheartedly in the concept of ‘Slim Homes’. There are many posts on the resident groups regularly regarding upcycling and up-sale of products that are not in use in a particular household. Waste segregation is also done diligently every Tuesday by all residents.
With environment protection and sustainability being the most important challenges we are facing today, we at Windsor are happy to be a part of collaborations that help us create awareness and do our bit for this cause.
