While Building Your Dream House

Don’t Inconvenience Your Neighbours

A neighbour in Maharani Bagh reported that the house B-24 is being demolished. They have not put up any barricades along the boundary. Can the work be stopped until they put barricades? We have an asthmatic patient in our house (B-25).

Another resident reported that there are also rules limiting noise pollution levels. In I Block for 1 week there is blaring Spiritual Discourses and music being played for at least 3-4 hours DAILY. Are there any guidelines on this?

One person’s need should not turn out to be another’s poison. This pertains to all owners who are actively building their houses, in already occupied colonies….  well, it shouldn’t turn out that by the time you have shifted into your new home and it’s time to invite your neighbors for the house warming party no one has any warm feelings towards you, due to the inconvenience and hazards you created for them while building your dream home.

Most houses take a year or two for completion and most owners are never there to build their houses themselves instead they give them to the thakedars or local contractors. They in turn are in a hurry to cheat you to the maximum and to do a quick and shoddy job as possible… overlooking the most important aspects that are of concern to the residing residents.

Safety of the residents, Sanitary Precautions, Cleanliness, Water Paucity, Raw material causing nuisance and road blockage.

Take any colony we have a couple of houses that are midway or are under renovation progress, and they all fail to cover the above-mentioned standards.

Be it the basements being dug up or the roof being laid down extra labour is required that come in herds with their belongings and entire families. All hell breaks loose for the residing residents. …Well maintained parks get littered with rubbish in no time, you have human excreta all over your footpath and lawn, foul stench replaces fresh air (One has heard of mobile toilets that are hired for a while but that would cost extra and why should one want to spend that extra for your neighbours, you haven’t shifted yet!) Early morning there is no fresh water coming?? Why because the pipe that feeds your lane has an opening that has water flowing 24 hours supplying to the building in progress? The laborers’ children are having a blast bathing, while you have no water in your kitchen to cook food. Sidewalks have bajri cement bricks falling all over and you and your children have to watch your step before you twist your ankle or facture your foot. Cars nearly run you down while driving past…there is no space what to do????
