Syal Family driving across Indian Coastal Line
The mere thought of a family vacation to a beautiful coastal destination fills our hearts with excitement. For many, it’s the ultimate escape we eagerly look forward to. But the Syals —Maan, Alka, and Vivek of M15, DLF Phase 2, didn’t just plan a short getaway. Instead, they dreamed big, turning a simple idea into an epic adventure.
What began as a plan to visit a few beach towns across India soon evolved into something extraordinary. The Syals’ wanderlust led them to map out a 50-day, 8,500-kilometer road trip across India’s breathtaking coastline, covering 30 destinations.
As a family of food enthusiasts, their culinary cravings became a central theme of the journey. From savoring local delicacies at iconic food stops to discovering hidden culinary gems, the Syals made sure their itinerary included as many flavors as possible.
Dubbed Wheels & Waves, the Syals embarked on this ambitious adventure on 22nd November 2024 and are expected to return by 9th January 2025.
By the last week of November, the family had already reached the City of Joy, Kolkata on the Eastern Ghats, stopping first in Lucknow, Varanasi, and Bodh Gaya. In Lucknow, they indulged in the famous Tunday Kebabs and began their morning with Sharma Ji Ki Chai. In Varanasi, they embraced the city’s spiritual essence, attending the Ganga Aarti and exploring temples, all while soaking in the tranquility of a cruise on the Ganges. At Bodh Gaya, the land of enlightenment, they were showered with tranquility and peace at the Metta Buddharam Temple and the Great Buddha Statue.
Before setting out on this epic journey, Vivek and Alka shared their excitement, saying:
“The thrill of hitting the open road, the wind in our hair, and the sun on our faces is exhilarating! Discovering hidden gems, from quaint beachside eateries to bustling street food markets, is a culinary dream come true.
The song ‘Aage Bhi Jaane Na Tu, Peechhe Bhi Jaane Na Tu, Jo Bhi Hai Bas Wahi Ek Pal Hai’ resonates deeply with us. Its poignant lyrics remind us to live in the present and embrace each fleeting moment. As we embark on this journey, we’re reminded that life is a collection of moments, and it’s up to us to cherish each one.”
In December, the Syals will continue their journey along the eastern coast before turning toward the western coast. Stay tuned as we bring you updates on their escapades over the coming months.
We wish the Syal family a safe, exciting, and memorable journey!
