Traffic and parking snarls in the sector are nothing new. Residents whose houses face the E-block know it too well. E-block is overcrowded with a school, two temples, two hospitals, a Mother Dairy outlet, and the Club and RWCS Community Centre. None of these buildings has designated visitor parking, with many parking their vehicles on the roadside. Those who reside in front of hospitals or temples have often turned to WhatsApp groups to point out that entry to their own houses is blocked by visitors’ cars.
While these commercial properties trigger daily traffic snarls in the area, the situation is accentuated on Saturdays with vehicles choking the roads. With Saturdays being the off-day for most offices and educational institutions, the two hospitals, see a large influx of visitors or patients. This leads to a massive jam, with vehicles pouring in from all four directions with less adherence to traffic rules. Into this mix, throw in the encroachments outside their houses (by way of green gardens) and haphazardly parked vehicles, and you get a maze that leads to excessive honking and choked roads.
Even over 8 years ago, the RWCS had suggested turning the vacant NOIDA Authority land into a stilt parking lot, but there has been no action on this. Even if these vacant plots are turned into parking lots, questions arise as to who will build them, who will manage or maintain them, and will they be chargeable?
There is a burning need for traffic control in the sector. Can the RWCS talk to the Noida Traffic Police for directions to solve the problem? Maybe the presence of traffic personnel along with strict lane-driving measures will help the situation.
