As soon as winter bids farewell in the form of Holi, India becomes colourful with diverse festivals and celebrations: Ugadi, GudiPadwa, Navroz, Cheti Chand, Nav Samvatsar, and above all, Navratri, which continues for nine days and worships Maa Durga. Though the names of festivals are different, the backbone of festivals is unity.
This time, Navratri Pooja started on the 9th of April, but ladies began preparing beforehand because the Pooja fast had to continue for nine days. At Wellington, ladies perform the Pooja rituals from morning to afternoon at their houses, and then in the evening, from 4 pm to 6 pm, they attend the Kirtan at different houses. These nine evenings are full of melodious bhajans, purity and mouth-watering Satvik Prasad. The colour code was different daily. Though ladies were fasting even then, their punctuality and sincerity were to be appreciated.
