MCD felicitates us for this achievement
Hello everyone! I am delighted to share that on International e-waste day on 21st October 2023, Green Park Extension Association, Kuda Abhiyan Green Park and our Green Park kids were felicitated by MCD South Delhi, by Why Waste Wednesday foundation and NGO Karo Sambhav for donating more than 100 kgs of e-waste.
As we all know the importance of waste segregation into three categories – dry, wet and hazardous waste, e-waste is yet another category which requires immediate attention.
E-waste is the most toxic form of waste if not disposed off responsibly. All batteries, bulbs (LED, CFL) tubelight, old mobile chargers, all kind of electrical fittings, switch boards, old switches, old wires, mobiles, laptops etc are some of the e-waste that we are regularly collecting from our Green Park residents every weekend, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Green Park Extension booth at gate number 13.
As technology advances, electronic devices have become an indispensable part of our lives. With the increasing use of electronic devices comes the problem of electronic or e waste which refers to electronic devices which have reached the end of life or become obselete and no longer in use. These devices are often disposed of in landfills, posing significant environmental and health risk.
E-waste devices contain toxic material such as Lead, Mercury and cadmium which can cause severe environmental damage if not disposed off correctly. The toxic material such as Lead, Mercury and cadmium can seep into the soil and groundwater, polluting the environment and causing harm to plants animals and humans along with the environment.
Recycling e-waste has several benefits including conserving natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emission and preventing environmental and health hazards. We have tied up with certified e-waste recyclers, who follow strict regulations and ensure that e-waste is disposed of safely and responsibly. We also donate the working electronics to a non profit organization or a school.
We would like to thank the IT Solutions company in Okhla who have been helping us to rectify the problems and repairing the parts of these devices at no cost and providing them in working condition thus helping us to donate these devices.
Request more and more residents to join us in this initiative. Please message us on the following numbers 98104 97429 and 9910 254060, if you want us to collect it from your place.
