Anumber of cases of water motor thefts have been reported in C Block during December 2024. Rajan Verma reported that he got to know about the theft after repeated efforts to get water failed. He noticed this early in the morning suggesting that the motor would have been stolen during the night from the backlane. Ms. Tandon, another resident reported that water motors of all four floors of the building had been stolen in a span of one month. The incidents raise serious issues about the security of backlanes, particularly those having entry from outside. One of the options could be to have all gates locked and keys available with security for opening by authorised persons. Backlanes lacking gates be provided gates through MLALAD fund with the help of Saurabh Bhardwaj. Guard on patrolling duty both during day and night should check regularly that the locks are intact and no damage has been done. This will ensure that no unauthorized person enters the back lanes. This would also mean that all occupants of back lanes (cars, vendors, labour, etc.) are moved out of back lanes. You cannot have gates open to the public and expect security. The call has to be taken by RWA considering the security challenges.
