The monsoon has been generous this year, providing us with much-needed water. This season is also always eagerly awaited to bring respite from the scorching heat of summer – but are we really prepared for a good monsoon? A few showers of rain and many spaces were turned into pools. The roads and lanes at many places in the Sector experienced severe waterlogging problem. This stagnant water does not find any outlet and inevitably becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Residents request the management to arrange outdoor fumigation and fogging to keep mosquitoes at bay, but is this really the best solution? Prevention is always better than a drastic, polluting, environment-harming cure – we need to ensure that there is no standing water anywhere to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
