The first week of January began with continuous breaks in the daily supply of water from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). DLF City Phases 1,2,3 and 4 were getting less supply. As a result, the DLF team in Phase 2 and RWA advised the residents to be aware and to use water judiciously.
GMDA reported that due to a breach in the water canal supplying water to Gurugram, water inflow in the city was in shortage and supply across the city was affected.
In DLF 2 for a few days water supply was very limited and the supply was once a day only as water storage in P & L block water tanks was also exhausted.
With the fluctuating situation, not much prior notice or information was available to residents for ‘No Water Supply Today’ notes. Residents again had to fall dependent for weeks on the water tankers and their exploited rates for supply due to such shortage in supply.
With the overflowing increase in population, extensive construction activities, and commercialisations across DLF-2, basic necessities like water and electricity are becoming scarcer by the day and becoming a big pain area for the residents. Better infrastructure planning and more reservoirs to support the demand for water may be required to cater to the requirements in the future.
