Water cannot be made but can only be saved
The ground water is depleting at a very high rate, especially in urban areas. The main causes of water depletion are climate change, deforestation, over-exploitation of ground water and in adequate measures to treat waste water. It cannot be ruled out that we use more water but conserve less. Every country, through their Government schemes, is making considerable effort to save water. But it may not be the sufficient unless we all think and determine to help the government in water conservation. Water cannot be produced /made but can only be saved.
Now the question arises as to what an individual or a family residing in a civil society can do to conserve water. The answer is ‘YES, in many ways’ we can. Many of us may be ignorant of the several many measures to save water and to educate our children to adopt such measures.
Firstly, we must educate our children and tell them how we get water in our taps. A child may think that whenever we open the tap the water comes out, but may not be aware of the background mechanism, hard work and money spent to make it available from the natural resources.
We value the things when it is scare or difficult to get or we pay for it. For example, if a message is received that water will not be coming for one or two days or will be at low pressure and for less period, we start taking all precautions just to ensure that we do not run short of water from the limited availability. But when supply is resumed as normal we come back to usual practice.
Many of us may think that in the absence of water meter to check the individual consumption, all similarly categorized houses pays same amount per month. Hence the person conserving water is not benefited in any ways or given rebate in water charges.
It is not necessary in life to get reward for everything instantly. Sometimes the reward may be availed by our next generation for the contribution made by us as in case of life insurance. We too got the reward of natural resources like water minerals, oil and gases for the noble task done thoughtfully by our forefathers to preserve these for us.
Now think about our duties to safeguard the planet and its resources for our future generation. So, let us save and conserve water.
Water is precious, save it now to save life in future.
