Water Pipe Burst Exposes Inter Department Rivalry DJB & PWD Face Off Publicly

E-Block RWA Intervenes

On their own these departments are blissfully unaware of Leaking Pipes or Potholed Roads, but after days of wasted water and numerous complaints by RWA and one failed attempt to stop leakage, DJB team finally started repair work. No sooner had they started digging a team of PWD came to stop the work.

Residents were a harried lot as due to heavy leakage over 100 plots were suffering due to very low pressure and their Complaints had started to put the RWA in poor light. Once a few workers came and tried to fix the leak, but next morning’s high pressure burst the pipe further aggravating the damage.

It took DJB two days to line up a team to do the extensive repair job, till then 100’s of gallons of treated water flowed on HRG Marg, with PWD blissfully unaware. No sooner had DJB started digging, PWD people appeared to stop work, no amount of reasoning changed their mind. Few onlookers were dumb founded as PWD cared little for wasted water or suffering residents.

A frantic call was made by RWA Guard to Sanjay Anand GKRA President and Secretary E-Block RWS, who dropped everything at hand and rushed to the spot. On reaching he firmly told PWD that residents cannot be held to ransom due to territorial war between DJB & PWD.

The oft repeated Multiplicity of Authorities argument under different political party rule is no longer valid, as Delhi Government and MCD now fall under the same party. The natural expectation is that there will now be greater Coordination & Cooperation between departments.

Sanjay Anand finally prevailed and work started and PWD asked for a request letter for digging from DJB which was complied, the real sore point was the Great Indian Ego of two JE’s……. one thought it below his dignity to mail a request letter and the other becoming a stickler for procedure in asking for a permission letter. Finally, the work got done in two weeks after gallons of water wasted, suffering residents and wet roads without rain, for a job that should have been fixed within a day.
