A Waste Segregation Workshop was organised at Lotus Boulevard in collaboration with AOA secretary Abhishek Gupta (T25) and a few volunteers like Jhilmil Agarwal (T4), Kirti Chibber (T6) and Anuja Gupta (T25) on Tuesday, 28 March behind T17 at the Skating Area.
The Segregation Workshop began at 11:30 AM with the arrival of the waste segregation expert team and representatives from Noida Authority. They were felicitated with flower bouquets by the volunteers.
An influencer introduced the waste segregation concept to all maids. She explained that the Noida Authority has introduced and mandated waste segregation of dry waste (like polyethene, wrappings etc) in Blue Bins and organic waste (food leftovers, fruits & vegetables peels, kitchen waste) in Green Bins.
Jhilmil, a vigilant resident, explained the benefits of doing so for the sake of Mother Nature and future living beings. She also explained how to distinguish between blue & green bin waste.
The Noida Authority dignitary explained the concept of Red Bin (for medical waste, sanitary waste etc) and Black Bin (for electronic waste like wires, batteries, CDs, etc) which will soon be introduced.
After the Workshop, an oath was taken by all people present, residents as well as maids, for waste segregation at both individual (flat wise) and community level (tower wise) by keeping two bins for dry & wet waste.
This workshop was attended by 100+ people including maids and society maintenance staff. In the end, all the maids were given snacks of samosas and jalebis on behalf of Lotus Boulevard Social Welfare.
