Garbage dumping at empty plots is not only a regular but persistently increasing concern for residents across our colony DLF Phase 2. A few earmarked empty plots in every block have become a favourite for all to conveniently come and throw their garbage in.
One such section of empty plots at Q2 lane has been a favoured dumping area, not just for the unknown residents or house helps, but also for the garbage collectors to unload their extra loads or even the road cleaners to dump the dry leaves and waste. The location attracts easy dumping from everyone for all kinds of waste from their homes and becomes a big pile and spread over the large land. The piling up keeps happening till a garbage tractor comes to clear the space at a later date. Each person bringing their bag of waste just attracts others to also put more waste in the same land.
Every few days MCG team is then requested by residents to call the tractor and clear the space out, and even though quick action is taken by MCG for clearance, the cycle keeps repeating again and again.
A few more instances of such waste dumping came to light from N and P blocks too. In recent months, it has been noticed that while few residents raise complaints to the different agencies to help in clearing waste, no one has been able to identify who is responsible for this waste-dumping action and how to stop it.
Isn’t it time now as residents collectively to step up and find a permanent solution involving all the stakeholders, be it the co-residents, house staff, MCG, DLF or the RWA teams.
Will the installation of cameras in all lanes help in identifying the dumpers?
Will notices put in such regular dump grounds by MCG or DLF help in curbing the practice?
Will educating residents and workers help in minimising the issue?
Let us all together make some effort to bring back our colony to its beautiful self with cleanliness rather than be identified as a garbage-filled neighbourhood.

Kudos to you Smriti for raising such am important issues .
Time to take some tough stands.
It is felt that notices on empty plot should be the very first step..If situation remains the same, then
highlighting the names and addresses of regular dumpers can follow.
Maybe it’s time to rethink our choice of MCG Corporators and local MLAs? If their names and pictures are plastered all over DLF Phase 2, shouldn’t it be plastered to these sites as well – Isn’t it their responsibility to keep their constituencies in order?
An absolute necessity to keep the dlf 2 premises clean and beautiful
It’s unfortunate that even the educated lack civic sense and responsibility towards the community
I feel fines can be one way to deter people from dumping waste all over
