DLF 2 Gears up for Bringing its Municipal Councillor to MCG

The Urban local bodies in the district of Gurugram i.e. Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Manesar with the Municipal Council of Pataudi-Jatauli Mandi and Municipal Committee Farrukh Nagar will be holding their elections for all councillors, and mayors positions on 2nd March 2025. The elections were announced by the Haryana State Election Commission.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will form its new council under the new ward delimitation structure announced in 2024 with 36 wards with a total electoral of over 9 lakh.

In this new ward structure, DLF Phase 2 now is a part of WARD 2 along with local villages Sarhaul and Dundahera and Surya Vihar. The ward got picked in the reservation draw to hold seat for a woman candidate from the area.

The final list of candidates post the nominations has been released by Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram Ajay Kumar, acting as District Election Officer on 19th February 2025.

Prior to this, the political parties fielded their candidate list and the nominations were filled by the contesting candidates between 11th to 17th February 2025.

The popular candidate of choice across DLF Phase 2 seems to be Jyotsna Yadav who is contesting as a BJP candidate and will face competition from Smt. Kamlesh of Congress and independent candidates from other areas, Dr. Tanu Yadav, Pooja Yadav and Rimple Yadav. Jyotsna Yadav has been meeting all possible residents personally, going door-to-door across the DLF Phase 2 blocks, holding community meetings in block parks and even conducting ‘drawing-room’ meetings.

As a new change, the Gurgaon citizens will also vote directly to elect their city’s mayor. The fight for the Mayor seat is between two candidates, Raj Rani Malhotra of BJP and Seema Pahuja of Congress.

In the coming days, all DLF Phase- 2 residents and political enthusiasts will be watching the developments and observing the candidates who are likely to shape our community’s governance for the next 5 years. The key concerns that need to be addressed are security, basic necessities of power supply and water and sanitation and cleanliness.

On 2nd March, the main centres for action in DLF Phase 2 will be Junior wing American Montessori School at Cassia Marg with polling stations 29 to 33 and Senior Wing American Montessori School in L block will have polling stations 34 to 39. The voters will be able to cast vote from 8am to 6pm on that day.

The power to make it possible for a strong candidate to come on the seat of Municipal Councillor for Ward No. 2 lies with the voters in the community. It is crucial for each and every registered voter in DLF Phase 2 to participate in the electoral process and exercise their fundamental duty. Selecting a leader who will provide quick sustainable solutions to pressing civic issues, while presenting a transparent administration will be the deciding factor at the ballot box.

Your vote is Your Voice — Make it count.
