The Defence Colony (WA) Club hosted KK Kohli, Impressario Asia and his troupe on the evening of Sat, 25 Nov 2023 to present a repertoire of the life, times and career of one of Hindi cinema’s most accomplished actresses, Dadasaheb Phalke life time achievement Awardee, Waheeda Rehman.
Commencing the repertoire, emcee Sarawajeet Jha related that her co-star Guru Dutt in the 1960 film “Chaudhvin ka Chand”, sings – Jo bhi ho tum khudaa ki kasam, “laajavaab” ho – coincidentally Waheeda in urdu also means “laajavaab”!
Taking off from here, Shri Kohli and his co-panellists Sanjeev Upadhyaya and Amitabh Shrivastva, walked the audience down her incredible career of 50 odd years regaling them with interesting snippets, clips and songs from her films by his very talented team of artists.
The terrace had been tastefully decorated with the ladies complementing the décor with colourful sarees and shawls and even as the temperature dropped towards the latter part of the presentation, the audience stayed put with many nostalgically humming along.
Truly, an evening to remember!
