Vividha Celebrates Year of Millets

Millets have been an integral part of our diets for centuries. Millets were forgotten when foreigners invaded our country and brought the culture of wheat and rice. All over the world these grains like rice, wheat and maize gained popularity and became staple for our daily diets. On the recommendation of Indian govt to U.N., the year 2023 has been declared the “International year of Millets”, These small grains, also called “Shree Anna”, are packed with nutritional benefits. How could Vividha not celebrate such an important thing? Jyoti Bhatia, an epitome of knowledge and Vividha president, decided to enlighten the members about these environment friendly small bundles of health.

She so beautifully explained about the kinds of millets, benefits and how to cook millets. She also brought labelled bottles of various millet types for our members to see. Very interesting and interactive session it was. She had all the answers for the members ‘ queries. She also showed her cooking expertise by sharing some sweet and savoury millet recipes. Jyoti also brought a ragi cake which was so delicious and nutritious too. This was really a special treat.

As always, I was requested to talk on Guru Poornima which was celebrated on 3 July. I also spoke about Saawan and it’s importance.

Janak Bhatia sang a beautiful Guru bhajan which was very melodious and apt for the occasion. She also got, her specialty, home made jaljeera for everyone. This was followed by another beautiful bhajan by Sangeeta who also got inspired to sing.

Birthday ladies were wished and sweets were distributed. Vandana Marodia,  Vividha chef queen, got home made coconut barfi for everyone which was so delicious that members were asking for more.

The meeting ended with hot ramladdoos and delicious Dahi Bhalla.
